Software development & cloud consulting

Software built to run in production, not just in demos.

Web applications, cloud infrastructure and SaaS products — built, shipped, and kept running afterwards. Own products are part of the portfolio, which is where most of the experience comes from.

Cartback.shop

Live

A published Shopify app that recovers abandoned carts with email and browser notifications, timed from each store's own buying pattern.

A full product, not a prototype: OAuth and billing, webhook capture, a scheduler that survives cold starts, GDPR webhooks with data deletion, and shopper email addresses encrypted at rest. Listed on the Shopify App Store with approved protected customer data access.

Dropsoon

In progress

Pre-orders for Shopify, built on the platform's own deferred purchase options rather than front-end workarounds.

Checkout collects the deposit and schedules the balance; inventory is committed on fulfilment. Most apps in this category rewrite the product page with JavaScript, which accelerated checkout buttons bypass — the order then goes through without pre-order terms. This one keeps the commerce logic where it belongs.

Secretree

Open source

Private git for people who do not trust their git host. Source stays plaintext only on machines that hold a key; everything that leaves them is ciphertext.

History, branches, commit messages, reviews and CI logs are all encrypted. A hosting provider becomes a durable blob store: a breach yields ciphertext. The developer workflow stays unchanged — push, pull, review, deploy.

What this covers

Four areas — and an honest no to everything outside them.

01

Product development

Web applications from first commit to production: data model, API, interface, deployment. Strongest in TypeScript, React, Python and Postgres — though the language follows the problem, not the other way round.

02

Cloud & infrastructure

AWS and serverless platforms: deployment pipelines, background jobs, monitoring — and keeping running costs proportionate to the business behind them.

03

Shopify apps

Public and custom apps: OAuth, billing, webhooks, theme extensions, and the App Store review process — already been through it end to end.

04

Consulting & review

A second opinion on an architecture, a security review before launch, or working out why a system costs more to run than it should.

About

Buildsnap is an independent software practice based in Hungary, working with clients across Europe and beyond. It is a one-person operation, registered as a Hungarian sole trader — the registration details are in the imprint.

The work leans towards long-lived systems — the kind that still have to run in two years. That shapes the approach: boring technology where it matters, careful handling of customer data, and honest estimates in place of optimistic ones.

Open source and self-operated SaaS products are part of the portfolio. Running them is where the practical knowledge comes from: what it actually costs to keep software alive after launch.

Working with a one-person practice means talking directly to whoever writes the code — and an honest limit on how much can be taken on at once. Both are stated up front rather than discovered later.
